At Maribel Ayala Psychotherapy and Consulting, our practice was founded on a passion for understanding people and supporting healing through every stage of life. What began as one clinician’s shift from corporate and HR roles into the mental health field has grown into a collaborative, trauma-informed team dedicated to helping individuals, couples, veterans, and first responders navigate life’s most difficult experiences. Grounded in cultural sensitivity, deep listening, and evidence-based care, we specialize in supporting those impacted by trauma, anxiety, and relationship challenges. Each team member brings their own perspective and training, but we’re united by a shared goal: to help you feel seen, supported, and equipped to heal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Fees range from $150 to $185 depending on the psychotherapist and services provided.
Individual session with Intern Pre-Licensed Therapist: $60 per session.
Fees for online video and telephone sessions are due by E-transfer BEFORE each appointment. We will email you a receipt of payment.
Registered Psychotherapist fees are accepted by Canada Revenue Agency as eligible medical expenses. Keep your receipt(s) as proof of payment for tax purposes or to submit for reimbursement to your health care benefit provider.
To reschedule or cancel your appointment, please provide a notice at least 48 business hours in advance. For Monday appointments, cancellation notices must be given by the Thursday prior to the appointment. If an appointment is cancelled, rescheduled, or missed without this notice, the full session fee will apply, as the time is reserved exclusively for you and cannot be offered to another client.
You can manage your appointments through your Jane online booking account, or by emailing or calling us, to avoid any late cancellation fees. For further clarification or guidance, feel free to contact our office or speak with your therapist.
We are not psychologists. We are Registered Psychotherapists. We can provide psychotherapy and perform assessments for treatment purposes, but we are unable to diagnose or prescribe medication.
You do not need a referral from your medical doctor, as we welcome self-referrals. However, if your doctor wishes to send a referral, we are happy to accept it via email at th*****@**********la.com or by fax at 877-984-4373.
We are now welcoming new clients for online video appointments, and there is no waitlist at the moment.
Counseling and psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP unless they are provided by a General Practitioner, Psychiatrist, or Nurse Practitioner with mental health training.
Each person’s situation is unique. On average, a client may need between 6 to 12 sessions. However, some clients might require fewer sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy, depending on their individual needs and the complexity of their symptoms.
Clients must pay for their online therapy sessions by e-transferring funds to ma*****@**********la.com prior to each appointment. We will email payment receipts, which can be submitted to benefit providers for reimbursement if the benefit plans cover services provided by Registered Psychotherapists.
We provide online evening and weekend appointments on request. Please check with your therapist regarding their weekend availability.
Insurance and Other Programs
- Mental health provider for Veteran Affairs Canada (VAC) – Veterans, former RCMP members, their caregivers, and families may qualify to receive counselling/psychotherapy services at no cost to them through VAC mental health and wellness program.
- Approved WSIB Ontario service provider.
- Counselling services for First Nations and Inuit clients with a status card or NTI Card/Territorial Health Card may be covered by the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Program and the Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program (IRS RHSP).
